We are delighted to welcome the University of Cumbria on board for the 2016 Lancashire Sports Awards as sponsor of the Secondary School of the Year Award.

The University of Cumbria was established in 2007, but has a history of teaching and learning in the region stretching back over 150 years. Set across campuses in Ambleside, Carlisle and Lancaster, with additional sites in Barrow, London and Workington, the university is ranked second nationally for graduate employability, with 97%* in work or further study within six months of graduating. With an established portfolio of sports degrees providing high levels of student satisfaction, the university is pleased to support the Lancashire Sports Awards 2016.

Simon Reader, Senior Marketing & Digital Engagement Officer at the University said: “The University of Cumbria is delighted to sponsor this award category, recognising the outstanding work of secondary schools in sports provision and education.

“We have strong links with schools and colleges across the region, providing the further practical and academic training for young people who choose to go on careers in sports and physical education. The skills and ambitions of these young people are developed and nurtured at our secondary schools, and we’re very proud to recognise this superb work with the sponsorship of this award.”

This award is given to a Secondary School that has excelled in school sport and physical activity over the last 12 months, has community links and the impact of sport has made them stand out over the year.

The Lancashire Sports Awards 2016 will take place on Friday 25th November at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool.
