Sponsored by Great Places Housing Group, this award is given to an innovative project that has helped to regularly increase and sustain participation in sport and physical activity and provide alternative opportunities for people to get active.
The winner of Community Project of the Year 2018 was the Pilling 20-20 Project.
The Pilling 20-20 project was established in 2014 when a 17-acre site was purchased and a vision was shared with Trustees of the memorial hall and everyone in the village. The project was created with the aim of providing facilities for the people of Pilling, including outdoor spaces for sport and recreation, quality football pitches, a trim trail with activity stations which are suitable for all ages and a stimulating playground for young people to enjoy, including facilities for the disabled. With the community being isolated and having poor transport links, something needed to be done to support local residents. Thanks to the project, Pilling now has two quality pitches to use which are used by local residents.
