Community Club of the Year 2017

This award is given to an active and well run sports club that has undertaken great work in running development programmes which attract and retain participants, particularly those from under-represented groups, and which help their members to develop their sports potential. Where appropriate, the club will have worked towards gaining a high standard national accreditation or continued to retain their Clubmark status. This award is proudly sponsored by Burnley FC in the Community.

Highly Commended: Fulledge Colts Youth FC

Fulledge Colts aim to provide affordable opportunities for local children to play football and have high quality development opportunities for players, coaches and volunteers within the club to enable them to realise their potential.  The club currently has 23 active teams playing in leagues such as the East Lancashire Football Alliance and the Accrington and District Junior Football League.

Highly Commended: Lancaster Tennis Club

Lancaster Tennis Club are an inclusive Club with members ranging from 5 years old to 81. Over the last few years, they have grown the junior tennis, coaching and team programme and improved the courts and disabled facilities. The clubs also continues to collaborate with the Marsh Community Centre to deliver free coaching for their disadvantaged youngsters.

Winner: Preston Pirates BMX Club

Preston Pirates BMX Club deliver sessions from rides aged 2 and up starting out on balance bikes before moving onto racing bikes. Last year saw membership grow to over 200 thanks to the variety of sessions they offer. The club also offers fitness class for partners to get involved in while their children are training.
